No Melancholy, Goodbye began in 2021 as an instrumental piece for a project that never saw the light of day. Between living-room sessions in Ybbs and Vienna, Pipo Fuhs, Michael Stöger and the project’s initiator fencah sketched out the song’s first rough contours, until it finally erupted in 2025 together with Verena Koppendorfer (Ivery).
Suspended somewhere between indie pop, melancholic euphoria, and sharp electronic edges, No Melancholy, Goodbye — inspired by a modern reimagining of Icarus — tells a story of failed dreams, reinvention and the refusal to let outside expectations hold you back.
The single is further amplified by the driving FICHE remix, pushing that sense of inner departure even closer to total catharsis.

Üblicherweise gut versteckt hinter seinem Schlagzeug (Kitty in a Casket, ELSA, Greyshadow) tritt Max Zauner alias fencah mit seinem Debütalbum Small Room, Full Heart nun selbst ins Rampenlicht.
Der 1994 in Melk geborene Musiker, Produzent und Mixing Engineer bringt eine bemerkenswerte Karriere im Hintergrund mit: Tourneen durch die USA und Großbritannien, zahlreiche Albenproduktionen mit Künstlern unterschiedlichster Genres, Chartplatzierungen, internationales Radio-Airplay und Theaterproduktionen als musikalischer Leiter.
Den Anstoß zum eigenen Projekt gab ein schwerer Verlust in der Familie. fencah nutzte die Stille der Pandemie-Zeit zum Schreiben und Reflektieren. Herausgekommen sind Songs über Liebe, Unsicherheit und persönliches Wachstum: emotional, aber nie selbstmitleidig. Klanglich bewegt sich das irgendwo zwischen Bedroom Pop, Indie und Folk, mit einer personalisierten Bariton-Ukulele als ungewöhnlichem, aber sofort wiedererkennbarem Herzstück.
Produziert und gemixt hat fencah alles selbst, in seinem Studio artig recordings in Niederösterreich. Für die Aufnahmen holte er enge musikalische Weggefährt:innen dazu: Johannes Schweiger (RIAN, Ness), Georg Buxhofer (Norbert Schneider Band), Caroline Loibersbeck (Frau Thomas & Herr Martin), David Mandlburger (Baba Yaga) uvm.
Small Room, Full Heart erscheint Anfang 2027.

Usually well hidden behind his drumkit (Kitty in a Casket, ELSA, Greyshadow) Max Zauner aka fencah steps into the spotlight for his debut album Small Room, Full Heart.
Born 1994 in Melk, Lower Austria, the musician, producer and mixing engineer brings an impressive track record from the wings: tours through the US and UK, numerous album productions, chart entries, international radio airplay, and work as a musical director for theatre.
The catalyst for fencah was a family loss. Using the quiet of lockdown to write and reflect, fencah crafted songs about love, uncertainty and personal growth: emotional, but never self-pitying. Sonically, the project sits somewhere between bedroom pop, indie and folk, anchored by a customised baritone ukulele that's unusual enough to become an instant signature.
fencah self-produces and mixes everything in his studio artig recordings in Lower Austria, with close musical collaborators brought in for the recordings: Johannes Schweiger (RIAN, Ness), Georg Buxhofer (Norbert Schneider Band), Caroline Loibersbeck (Frau Thomas & Herr Martin) and David Mandlburger (Baba Yaga) among others.
Small Room, Full Heart is set for release in early 2027.
